About Me

I am Majdi Gaith.

I was born in San Francisco / Napa Valley. I’m a dual citizen,
Palestinian-American and West Bank ID holder. I am an independent progressive, former Peace and Justice Commissioner, Trust and Safety policy professional, family owned small business co-founder, parent, and UC Berkeley graduate running for Berkeley City Council, District 4.

For more than a decade, I have developed policies that protect millions of people from harassment, fraud, abuse, and emerging threats. This work taught me how to evaluate evidence, solve complex problems, build consensus, and make balanced decisions that strengthen public trust.

I am building a multicultural, multifaith, and multigenerational coalition because Berkeley is strongest when people from every background and generation work together. As the co-founder of a local, family operated coffee roasting business and bakery, I understand the challenges facing small businesses, workers, and our neighborhood commercial corridors. As a parent raising a family in Berkeley, I know every resident deserves safe streets, reliable city services, attainable housing, and the opportunity to thrive.

I’m running because working families, students, immigrants, and small businesses deserve a councilmember who fights for them—not one who manages decline. I will bring thoughtful leadership, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and integrity to City Hall. I hope to follow in the footsteps of three great progressive women who served District 4—Ann Chandler, rest in peace, Donna Spring, rest in peace, and Kate Harrison—and carry forward their tradition of principled leadership.

I will work to revitalize downtown and neighborhood commercial corridors, strengthen tenant protections, support workers and local businesses, expand housing opportunities, improve public safety, advance climate action, and make City Hall more accountable and responsive to every resident.
